Schmeling Loop Trail

The Schmeling Loop Trail takes you along the path of the legendary boxer Max Schmeling, who lived in Bad Saarow from 1930 to 1938. Starting at the harbor, the route follows the lakeside promenade towards the spa park. At Markgrafensteg, the trail turns into Kirchstraße, leading to the Saarow Church where Schmeling married Anny Ondra in 1933. The trail continues along Ulmen- and Moorstraße, passing the Scharwenka House, and towards the Wierichwiesen. Here, you can spot the rare “Broad-leaved Helleborine” orchid. Along the way, there are many historical buildings to visit, such as the Ondra House, Schmeling House, and Thorak House. Green information boards provide fascinating insights into the history of Bad Saarow.
